Unbuilt Helsinki
Museum of Finnish Architecture, 2011 — 2012

Unbuilt Helsinki explored some of the most fascinating unrealized construction projects around the city.

These designs shed light on alternative routes in the country’s history, such as a planned royal palace. In the interwar years Helsinki was gripped by a skyscraper fever that could have led to a very different skyline today, while the 1960’s brought cars and bold plans to dissect the center with motorways.
My role
My focus was on the 1992 competition to find a new design for the city’s snack kiosks, highlighting the wealth of creativity that goes into such a contest.

Nine models, including the competition winner, were developed using old Meccano, and the final models were made of custom-made steel pieces. The models were displayed at Flow Festival, as well as the museum’s exhibition.
